Jumping the shark

Some of you may be like me and be a little confused every time you read a blog and see a reference to "jumping the shark" or "jumped the shark". It turns out that there is a nice Wikipedia article that explains what it means to "jump the shark". It simply means that you've passed your peak and are on a decline. One does not deliberately engage in "shark jumping", but it unfortunately is something that just happens.
